Honey Bunches of Oats Cookies

Sorry I have been blog slacking. During the summer it is harder to bake.... Too hot to turn the oven on! But I was dying to eat some cookies before I start my DIET!

This recipe was inspired by the fact that tomorrow is pay day, thus the house is a little low on food. We had lots of Honey Bunches of Oats, but no milk. So I thought why not turn my favorite cereal into a cookie!!!

1 stick butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 ts vanilla
1 ts baking powder
3/4 cup wheat flour
1 1/2 cups of crushed Honey Bunches of Oats (take about 3 cups of cereal for this)

Preheat oven to 350. Cream sugars and butter, then add egg and vanilla. Mix. Add flour, baking powder and mix well. Then add crushed cereal and mix well. Spoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake 10 minutes!

Makes about 24 cookies.

Source: variation of THIS recipe. Had to make it whole wheat you know!!! :) And I didn't have any chocolate chips.... but they sure would be yummy in these!

Happy Baking!

  3. Despite what everyone else is saying here, we loved these cookies! We used white flour, and we were able to figure out 'egg' was an 'egg' not 'eggs'. Not that complicated. Either way, thank you for the lovely cookie recipe!
